Rajesh Ramachandran on Sudarshan's Outpourings against Islam & Christianity


 

 

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief K S Sudarshan on Sunday lashed out at the church, alleging that Christianity is today more about politics than religion. The insurgency in the North-East is the result of a US conspiracy, using the church, he told newspersons at the end of the Rashtriya Raksha Mahashivir (national security grand camp) here.

Sudarshan said during the Cold War when India rejected US requests for military bases, it used the church to get access to the strategically important northeast ..

He alleged that the church is part of the West's arsenal through which it could guide Christians into political action in domestic as well as international politics.

Hence, an indigenous church is essential for national security, he contended. Earlier at a public meeting he calling for the Indianisation of Islam. Sudarshan asked Muslim clergy to stop exploiting illiterate Muslims who are being told to call Hindus kafirs. He said just as the Muslims of Indonesia still carry Hindu names and honour their Hindu ancestry, Muslims of India also should accept Hindu gods as part of their ancestry ...

All through the two-and-a-half hour programme, Union home minister Advani sat out in the sun among other guests away from the stage. Advani was seen reciting Sangh songs and doing the Sangh salute. Ram Prakash Gupta, Uttar Pradesh chief minister, sat next to Advani.
