The launch of Kashmir Channel at Srinagar's Palace Hotel was full of obscenity, if you agree with the ordinary definition of the word. On the function Rs. 2 crores were wasted and gifted to the artistes from Bollywood who had been called for its launch for their performance in the foreground of the serene, picturesque, world famous Dal Lake ... It looked as if it was the launch of some music channel in Mumbai ... It is a slap on Kashmiri culture, which they want to promote through this Channel. What kind of culture they want to promote in Kashmir and what is their definition of Kashmiriyat they want to promote in the blood-soaked Valley where there is nothing beyond sobs, tears and sufferings ?...
... Lucky Ali, the pop singer, who has concern for the people ... said that launching of Kashmir Channel is OK but the need is winning the hearts and minds of the people. The governments at both the Centre and the State have done enough naach-gaana in Kashmir but they have failed to read the minds and hearts of the people as there is veil on their eyes which does not allow them to see the sufferings of the common man.
