As you are aware, Vande Mataram is compulsory singing in Delhi Schools. The Muslim community has some religious reservations on the song. I know that it is the National Song. However, according to the Constitution and the Law as interpreted by the Supreme Court, no one can be forced to sing the National Anthem, against his conscience, he is expected to show respect to it. You will also notice that Article 51 only mentions the National Anthem and not the National Song. If the purpose is to promote patriotism, many patriotic songs are available and have a history behind them.
I suggest that the Directorate of Education should publish a collection of patriotic songs in Hindu, Urdu and Punjab for Delhi schools and the schools should be asked to select any of those songs by rotation for mass singing every day. This may include 'Sara Jahanse Achha Hindustan Hamara'.
