What I actually said was that in India, the state and religion have always been separate and, therefore, there was no question of talking about such a separation. Muslims saved my uncle's life in Jhelum. They also helped to bring my mother's jewellery to India. However, as a Hindu in India, it is sad that I and my son should have to sport long, red tilaks on our foreheads at Sanjay's TADA court appearances just to prove that we are Hindus! it is tragic that patriotism should be reduced to this kind of embolism.
