VHP's Action Plan and Hindu Agenda

The Annual Meeting of VHP's Governing Council and Board of Trustees, held in New Delhi on December 23-24, unanimously decided to evolve favourable  atmosphere for a pro-Hindu Government at the Centre, and for this purpose the sants associated with the VHP would launch an extensive awareness campaign throughout the country from January 15 to February 7.

The VHP has prepared a Hindu agenda, consisting of five basic points of national importance, for this election.

The five-point agenda includes: enacting a law banning the slaughter of cow and her progeny besides declaring it a cognizable offence so as to close down all the mechanised slaughterhouses in the country; removing all the hurdles in reconstruction of temples at Ayodhya, Mathura and Kashi, and the hand-over of all these places to Hindus respectfully; ban on religious conversion by enacting a law; stopping interference of several State Governments in management of Hindu maths, temples and akharas and; ensuring the free flow of Ganga as well as making it pollution-free.

The sants would perform the Ram Mahayajna at 7000 places in the country ... The Board of Trustees called upon the voters to vote for such party or alliance that would be able to effectively combat anti-national forces.

The VHP workers warned the Government not to make efforts to divide the Hindu society on the basis of caste.

The VHP thanked the Jain acharyas for declaring that Jains were inseparable part of Hindu society ...                                                                    (Source: The Organiser, 4 January, 1998)
