Acharya Giriraj Kishore, General Secretary of the VHP has formed "Gyanvapi Dharamsthal Trust to further the goal of constructing a magnificent temple.

The VHP is planning to assemble 50,000 Karsevaks/ activists at Varanasi on 6 December 1998 to take a vow to 'liberate Kashi Vishwanath'.

This is nothing short of a Declaration of War against the Gyanvapi Masjid which stood on 15 August 1947 and which is protected by law of 1991.

I request you to advise the State Government not to permit the proposed assembly and to make foolproof security arrangements.
