After the three-day dharam sansad ... the Parivar has openly identified Christianity and Islam as alien religions and therefore against Indian ethos - those following these religions are also aliens, so what if this is the land of their birth or of their ancestors, or that they hold Indian passports.

This is a view which has been shared by the whole of the Sangh Parivar from the beginning but in order not to be branded as openly communal they have refrained from voicing it - only allowing the VHP and Bajrang Dal leaders to say it once in a while - so that when required these can be disowned as the rantings of a lunatic fringe. With its adoption by a body described as the parliament of parliaments, to that extent the distillate of a thought process the BJP endorses, it is time the party said its piece. It will not do to say these are distinct organisations and that they are allowed to hold different views even if the BJP's Chief Minister in Gujarat, Keshubhai Patel took part in their deliberations. The truth is that they are not different, they all belong to the same umbrella organisation. Only some are more strident than the others ...

It was this dharam sansad that refused to accept court orders in the Babari Masjid case, and who were at the forefront of the Ayodhya movement. The BJP was a willing co-passenger and endorsed the proposition that courts could not rule on religious matters. The demolition followed, to secular India's eternal shame ... Now the lunatic fringe has all but decreed that personal faith forms part of an Indian's nationality and that Christians and Muslims are non-Indians.
