VHP: Margdarshak Mandal Meet (Resolution)

The VHP has once again resolved to build the grand Ram temple at Ayodhya as soon as carving of stones for the whole structure is complete. ..

... The VHP has declared after the two-day session of the VHP's apex boxy, the Kendriya Margdarshak Mandal (KMM) that it would construct the temple not secretly but by declaring it openly. Mahant Ramchandra Das, who is the chairman of the Ramjanmabhoomi Nyas, told press persons in New Delhi that engineers have indicated that material for construction of the temple would be ready by another two to three years ...

In a reference to Prime Minister A.B. Vajpayee's commitment to honour the Court's verdict, the Mahant said Shri Vajpayee made such a commitment in his capacity as the Prime Minister. He said the VHP was fully aware of the constraints of the BJP-led Government at the Centre which depends on so many allies ... There was no vouchsafing that the Court would be able to deliver a final judgement in the near future. Also, if the court's judgement could be revered in the Shah Bano case, why the same could not be done in the Ayodhya issue ... He reiterated the VHP's stand on Kanshi and Mathura issues saying that the VHP would not give up its claims for reclamation of these two.

"The Ram temple at Ayodhya would be constructed at any cost" and this matter would not be decided by politicians but Hindu religious leaders, he said ... The Mahant revealed that Shri Rao wanted demolition of the disputed structure at Ayodhya as he felt that if it was demolished, the BJP would be left with no other political issue to seek Hindu votes.                                                                                                                           (Source: The Organiser, 19.7.98)
