In the wake of the exodus of Hindus from Uganda in 1973, the Vishwakarma temple in Jinja was occupied by local Muslims. They did not demolish the temple. In stead, they elected a makeshift structure of corrugated sheets in the foreground of the temple for their daily prayers. This went on all these years. Now they had handed over the temple to its rightful owners, the Hindus, on payment of money spent on erecting the structure.
