For Weaker Sections of Educationally Backward Minority Communities
Since 1984 the UGC is implementing Scheme of Coaching Classes for the Weaker Sections Amongst Educationally Backward Minority Communities in Universities and Colleges ... Muslims, Neo-Buddhists are identified as Educationally Backward Minorities. In general, it is observed that most of the Muslims and Neo- Buddhists are not only educationally backward but also economically weaker, while revising guidelines for 9th plan the spirit for providing more opportunities to the persons belonging to these categories so that they can be benefited and prepare themselves for various competitive examinations ... In addition to Muslims and Neo- Buddhists, it was agreed that State Government(s) may also identify other groups who are educationally backward at the State level and they can be given benefit under the Scheme ... The guidelines have been prepared with the help of Standing Committee on Minority Coaching ....
