The RSS View Communal Violence

The Kendriya Karyakari Mandal (Central Executive Committee) of RSS met ... on July 6-7, 1968. Balasaheb Deoras, General Secretary of the RSS, presided over the meeting. Shri M.S. Golwalkar, Sarsanghchalak, was also present ... The KKM of the RSS expresses its grave concern over the increasing incidence of communal disturbances in the country. In a resolution passed at its last meeting the Akhil Bharatiya Partinidhi Sabha of the Sangh had categorically stated that only those anti-national elements which, by disturbing law and order in the country wanted to impede the nation's progress and malign it abroad, could be behind such repeated outbreaks of violence. It is inconceivable that Hindus, whose national life has blossomed here since times immemorial, could ever desire to disturb the peace of the land. Their noble and catholic traditions, too, rule out any possibility of their harbouring hatred or ill-will towards others. it is unfortunate that some leaders of the Government and of some political parties are intentionally trying to poison the atmosphere by making false accusations against the Hindus and the RSS which is devoted to organising them.

The National Integration Council which met recently at Srinagar also did not try to get at the root of the problem ....

The RSS firmly believes that maintenance of law and order is most essential for national progress and it has always been active towards that end. Despite this fact, some interested self-seeking elements have tried to drag its name in connection with the recent riots. The RSS throws out a challenge for the holding of an open enquiry by the Government into any communal riot. Such an enquiry would not only prove the absolute baselessness of all such allegations against the Sangh but also conclusively expose such anti-national and self-interested parties which are out to exploit the minority community for their political ends.
