.. The BJP's manifesto can be interpreted to mean all things to all citizens - plus a little extra o some. The two most prominent - and controversial - points relate to Ayodhya and to Article 370. Dispelling its recent ambiguity on the subject, the party has now come out loud and clear about its intention to build a temple in Ayodhya, though it has 'softened' its original stand by promising to resolve the issue through debate and legislation rather than confrontation. On Article 370 the BJP might be on trickier ground given that scrapping the provision will require a constitutional amendment, too ambitious a task for the party seriously to contemplate at present. Taking into account the party's proposal to appoint a law commission to help to evolve a common civil code, what the BJP seems to be prescribing is a ... national pep will which could be described as consensual Hindutva, easily digestible and equally invigorating for minorities as well as the majority community.
