I am shocked by the views on Islam and Indian Muslims attributed to you on the BJP Website on the Internet on 14.1.98 as reported in the Hindustan Times today Permit me to say that you appear to have a very shallow knowledge of Islam and the Holy Quran. You have hurt the feelings not only of Muslim Indians but of the Muslims all over the world through your sweeping and illiterate generalisations. Your views border on the blasphemous and are unworthy of a person of your stature.

As for your open threat to kill the Muslim Indians, if they do not change themselves to meet your specifications, we reject this threat with the contempt it deserves. We believe that our religious identity is protected by the Constitution and we cannot and will not permit it to be compromised at any cost.

Neither do we need any certificate of patriotism from the Sangh Parivar or from its so- called 'liberal' mask. We love our mother land and we wish it to flourish through unity and harmony as the common homeland of all its religions, cultures and languages.
