Reprieve on Ayodhya Editorial, The Hindustan Times, 11 June, 1998

The first to catch the infection is the Congress party which decided to move an adjournment motion against the Government on the Ayodhya temple issue ... Suddenly ... the situation changed and the Congress withdrew its decision to table the adjournment motion ...

Despite the ham-handed manner in which the ruling party has handled various issues ... the Opposition seems hopelessly handicapped in getting its acts together to even embarrass the Government let alone topple it. That does not, however, mean that the Government can wish the Ayodhya issue away But it sure means a reprieve.
