India is facing many difficult challenges today. One of the most pressing challenges is to consolidate and render permanent the atmosphere of communal peace and amity that has been building up in the country for the past few years. Another challenge is to rapidly promote the economic, social and educational development of the minorities - especially the Muslim community - so that they can make their fullest contribution to national development. The Government and the various organisations of the minority and majority communities have to work together in a spirit of trust and cooperation for the success of this mission ...

 Muslim Representation in CPMF

... Every effort is being made to give adequate representation to all the groups and, particularly, minority communities in the CPMFs. The CPMFs have been taking special steps to motivate young men and women to join these forces by making wide publicity in the areas where there is concentration of minority. The Minorities Commission and educational institutions of minority communities are also being informed of the recruitment.

We have further directed the CPMFs to take all possible steps to increase recruitment from such sections of society.
