President K.R. Narayanan has asked the people to mobilise themselves and harness their energies to deal with "dark forces" of communalism, casteism, corruption, violence and criminalisation of politics. "The state and the government have the responsibility of dealing with these forces which are threatening the fabric of our society and cherished values.
