(Despite) all his talks of everybody loving each other and communal harmony, Gandhi failed to bring the Muslims into the Congress. You may have individual figures like Dr. Ansari and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, but they were token figures. There was never any mass Muslims joining the Congress. I think there was a genuine failure to make the Muslims welcome to the Congress. To me it was a gigantic failure.
