Government Statements on Photo Identity Cards

 Guidelines have been issued to the State Governments/Union Territories to the effect that while they may use photo identity cards as one of the methods to expedite verification before issue/renewal of ration cards, they should continue with other means of verification also. We have advised State Governments/ UT Administrations that no consumer should be denied issue of a ration card only on the ground that he/she does not possess photo identity card.

 On Acceptance of Urdu Messages for FAX

The complaint has been investigated. The C.T.O., In charge refused to accept Urdu Fax message due to a misunderstanding on his part. He mistook Fax messages. To be telegraphic messages. Necessary instructions have since been issued to the officials concerned to accept Fax messages in any of the Indian Languages in addition to English. Inconvenience caused to the press and public is regretted.

Mausoleum of Shershah

The Mausoleum of Shershah at Sasaram has been subjected to massive encroachment. The total area under protection is 52.80 acres and the area under encroachment is 2.90 acres.

In the South Eastern corner of the tank a temple was constructed illegally during 1981.

The area under protection around Mausoleum and the tank has been fenced.

The State Government has been requested to remove the encroachment. The Archaeological Survey of India is also pursuing court cases against unlawful encroachments.

The court cases against the unauthorized constructions made by Bal Vikas Vidyalaya and others are pending in a court of law.

 The expenditure incurred during the last three years is as under-

1992-93                       Rs. 2,51,696.00

1993-94                       Rs. 95,063.00

1994-95                       Rs. 49,438.00
