"The BMMCC has noted with apprehension the public statements made by Kalyan Singh, Chief Minister of UP, in Ayodhya on 9 November, 1999 reiterating his resolve to construct the proposed Ram Janambhoomi Mandir on the site of the Babari Masjid 'soon', which implies that he is not prepared to wait for the final judicial verdict. He has served notice that this will be on the top of his agenda.

Shri Kalyan Singh may be trying to keep himself politically alive but his volatile statements have an incitement potential which cannot be ignored. Out of pique at being eased out of the Chief Ministership, he is attacking the agreed Agenda on which the National Democratic Alliance stands.

While many leaders and cadres of the BJP may be in secret and silent sympathy with him, the BMMCC calls upon the other political parties which had denounced the demolition of the Babari Masjid and some of whom now form part of the NDA, to take note of the fulminations of a disappointed but desperate member of the Sangh Parivar.

All these parties owe it to themselves to ensure that the Central and UP Governments act in accordance with their constitutional obligation to nip the mischief in the bud and to implement the existing Order of the Supreme Court.

The BMMCC also demands that the Vajpayee Government to expedite the judicial process through day- to-day hearing of the title suit by the Special Bench of the Allahabad High Court and commit itself to maintain the status quo in the meantime and abide by the final judicial verdict.
