Jamiat-Ulama-i-Hind: General Session, Bombay, 27-29 October, 1995(Resolutions)

1- On Muslim Personal Law

The Jamiat-Ulama-i-Hind emphasizes that the Muslim Personal Law is an integral part of Islam and any attempt to promulgate a Common Civil Code is interference in Islam (and demands) the doors of interference should be closed for ever.

It is a matter of regret that due to mental reservation not known, the government has not paid any attention to this extremely important issue. This attitude of the government emboldens the disruptive forces of the country to injure the spirit of democracy.

Therefore, the JUH demands that Article 44 should be deleted from the Constitution.

II- On Babari Mosque, Gyan Vapi Mosque and Mathura Mosque

1.     That the culprits involved in the outrage on December 6, 1992 should be arrested and suitably punished according t the law of our land.

2.     Babari Mosque should be reconstructed at its original site according to the promise made by the P.M.

3.     Adequate arrangements should be made for the protection of Jama Masjid Gyanvapi, Varanasi and the Idgah at Mathura.

4.     The law relating to the protection of religious places should be strictly enforced and any move against religious places existing since before 1947 should be treated as a criminal offence.

III-On Wakf Properties

1.     Wakf properties be exempt from rent control laws.

2.     Illegal/adverse possession of Wakf properties be vacated.

3.     Special Wakf tribunals be set up for speeding up the

4.     adjudication of Wakf cases in every district.

5.     Cases relating to Wakf properties be exempt from court fees.

6.     The working of Wakf Board should be improved and

7.     their annual reports should be published.

5.     Wakf Law be enforced throughout the country.

6.     Central Wakf Council should be advised.

IV-On Educational and Economic Backwardness of Muslims

1.             The government should pay special attention to the provision of educational facilities for the minorities.

2.             Reservation should be provided for Muslims in services and higher education according to their ratio in population.

3.             For the religious education of children Maktab should be established in every locality.

4.             Muslims should set up their own minority institutions including for technical education.

5.             Residential hostels should be established in educational centres and cities.

6.             A high level All India Educational Council should be set up to keep a watch over these matters.
