Muslim Employees Cultural Association, Cochin's Memorandum, 24 May, 1999


 

1. Seats are to be reserved for Muslims in the Indian Parliament and State Legislatures to ensure the proportionate representation, as being done in the case of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes.

2. Adequate percentage of seats is to be reserved for Muslim women as part of the proposed reservation for women in Indian Parliament and State Legislatures.

3. Muslims all over India are to be declared as Socially and Educationally Backward Community and a separate quota of 12% to be reserved for Muslims alone in the recruitment to Central and State Govts. services and public sector undertakings.

4. Seats to be reserved for candidates belonging to Muslim community in admission to educational institutions levels including plus two, undergraduate, post-graduate and professional course.

5. All impediments on the way of establishing minority educational institutions be removed and Muslim community organisations to be granted sanction to start their schools, colleges and universities.

6. Special riot prevention and control Police Force to be constituted in all riot-prone states with equal representation to various religious communities.

7. The site of the demolished Babari Masjid to be handed over to Muslims for the reconstruction of Masjid there.
