Milk Poured Into Yamuna

Amidst chanting of Vedic mantras by pandits over 21 maunds of milk was slowly poured into the Yamuna River this morning by the Akhil Bharatiya Yoga Vidya Prachar Sangh to 'purify the Yamuna waters'.

The function has been held every year for the last seven years. The belief is that when Krishna killed the serpent in the river to save the people of Mathura the residents poured large quantities of milk in the river to purify the waters.
