Maulana Azad Education Foundation: Annual Report, 1998-99


 

Maulana Azad Education Foundation is an organisation established to promote education amongst the educationally backward minorities. The aim of the foundation is to formulate and implement various educational schemes and plans through NGOs all over the country. Fully funded by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, GOI, (its) office (is at) 25, Ashoka Road, New Delhi-110 091

Educational Schemes

i) To establish residential schools especially for girls ..belonging to educationally backward minorities.

ii) To promote ... technical education amongst the educationally backward minorities.

iii) (To provide) financial assistance for hostel accommodation for girls belonging to the educationally backward minorities.

iv) (To provide) financial assistance for remedial and pre-examination coaching for students belonging to educationally backward minorities ..

Corpus Fund: The Foundation has received a Corpus Fund of Rs. 70.01 crore.

Annual Income: During ... 1998-99 the Foundation earned ... Rs.9.06 crore ... as interest on investment and an amount of Rs.3.75 crores (was) provided by the Government of India as recurring Grant.

Grant in Aid for Schools/Residential Schools & Colleges mainly for Girls:  The Foundation sanctioned grant-in-aid amounting to Rs.10,26.3 lakhs to 77 NGOs for the purpose of construction/expansion of  schools/colleges/hostels buildings and released an amount of Rs.508.5 lakhs to 72 NGOs.

Grant in Aid for Technical Education: The Foundation sanctioned grant in aid amounting to Rs.204.3 lakhs to 18 NGOs ... for technical education and released Rs.149.5 lakhs- to 17 NGOs.

The Foundation released Rs.262.1 lakhs to 57 NGOs as subsequent installments of grant in aid sanctioned during earlier years

Vocational Training Centre: The Foundation is running a Vocational Training Centre for Girls at Delhi (with 7) courses.
