There is undoubtedly an increasing tendency within a segment of the Hindu community to target Christians and other religious minorities ... Muslims ... have for decades been subjected to vilification and discrimination by certain fanatical Hindu groups ... Today, more than ever before, it is imperative that sensible and fair-minded Indians from the majority and minority communities re-dedicate themselves to the principle of religious accommodation and respect. It is only when this principle is upheld that a multi-religious society like India will remain stable and peaceful.
