The Sangh Shiksha Vargas held during last year registered a normal participation of the trainees and the highest ever for the 3rd year at Nagpur. The figures are: 1st year: 10,387; 2nd year 3,762; 3rd year: 1,136. The sevakaryas under the Seva Vibhag number about 7,000. Inclusive of the service projects being run by various sister organizations initiated by swayamsevaks, the total is more than 20,000.
"Speak Sanskrit" Campaign
Of late, the "Speak Sanskrit" campaign is fast catching up in several parts of our country. The full-time sevavratis responding to the call of "Sanskrit Bharati" are given intense 40-days' training. In Kashi during December to April and in Delhi during September last year, over 1000 camps were held (with) participation by about 40,000 trainees catch.
Vishwa Sangh Shibir
The seven-day long Vishwa Sangh Shibir held at Kayavarohan near Vadodara in Gujarat in the last week of December 1996 presented in a miniature form the unfolding of the vishwa roopa of Sangh. The participants, both male and female numbering 377, were drawn from 26 countries of all the five organizational regions of the world.
The Supreme Court's clear confirmation of its previous pronouncements elucidating the true national connotation of Hindutva has indeed rendered a signal service in clearing many cobwebs of confusion and willful distortion of that true concept by interested politicians and journalists. It is obvious that, for the same reason, the historic verdict should have sent shock waves among them. The Sangh is happy that the verdict has vindicated what it has always been propounding as the genuine concept of our nationhood.
The quashing of the second ban on Vishwa Hindu Parishad by the Tribunal has once again exposed the pernicious anti-Hindu attitude of the ruling party at the Centre. The adverse remarks passed by the judge against the Government while acquitting Sadhvi Ritambhara of all charges is one mose pointer.
The refusal of the Central and non-BJP State Governments to ban cow-slaughter for carrying out the constitutional mandate of cow-protection, with an eye on the Muslim vote-bank, has resulted in the rapid depletion of our cattle wealth... Granting of permission for putting up huge mechanized slaughterhouses is a direct affront to the 900 million strong Hindu people... And all this goes on to satiate the appetite of anti-Hindu elements in our country and Islamic countries abroad.
The prompt and welcome steps taken the three BJP-ruled States of Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Shiv Sena-BJP ruled Maharashtra, in banning cow-slaughter and transportation of cattle from their States need to be commended.
What with the Pakistani ISI spreading it subversive tentacles all over the country, smuggling huge quantities of deadly arms and ammunition right from Kashmir and Delhi to Kerala and Gujarat to Assam, besides keeping the Kashmir cauldron boiling, and the continued Bangladeshi Muslims' infiltration into most parts of the country, we can easily surmise the gravity of the impending threats to our internal peace and security and to our territorial sovereignty.
The Church lobby has become more aggressive in hotting up the political climate for securing reservations for Christian-converts also... The demand is motivated by the nefarious aim of removing the blockage in the form of non-reservation for the Christian-converts thus opening the flood-gates for the conversion of our weaker sections. It is the duty of the Hindu people to warn the political parties that their support to such an anti-Hindu measure would prove very costly to them in elections.
The descending curve of Hindu population in contrast to the rising curve of Muslim population in our country has been shockingly revealed in the 1991 census. Enforcing family planning among all sections of citizens through every possible legislative sanction, blocking with a stern hand the ever-growing Bangladeshi Muslims' infiltration and taking effective steps to throw out all such foreign elements back to Bangladesh, legislating of a common civil code - all such measures need to be urgently initiated. A great responsibility rests on the sober and nationalist sections among Muslims. They need to raise their voice against the fanatic fringe of Muslim leadership whose provocative voice continues to hold sway over their masses and turn the popular psyche in the right direction.
It is clear that all these destructive tendencies and forces have their source in the present-day perverted political field drained of its real cultural content of Hindutva.
An onerous responsibility devolves on the awakened sections of Hindus in general and Hindutva workers in particular, with regard to the forthcoming elections to the Lok Sabha. They will have to strive their utmost to rouse the voters to their national duty of electing such parties and persons who have proved by their past history that they stand firmly committed to tackling the above-mentioned problems and dangers on a priority basis.
The final and the only guarantee for ensuring the security and sovereignty of our country as also the harmonious and highly moral and cultural fabric of social life lies in the patriotically inspired and organized state of the entire Hindu society embracing all its sections.
