Jamaat-e-Islami Hind: Central Advisory Council's Resolution, 20 December, 1997


 

The Jamaat-e-Islami Hind shall continue its tireless striving to mobilise the public opinion for its objectives of maintaining the democratic pattern, containing the rising pace of violence and fascism promoting community amity and fighting for due rights of backward sections and women of the country. In view of the mid-term Parliamentary elections in March 1998, the Jamaat- e-Islami Hind shall make concerted efforts so that:

i) The politics in the country be ... clean and based on moral values, and be free from criminals, and only such candidates emerge elected as are true well wishers of the country and men of integrity.

ii) The fascist trends and communal hatred in the country effectively come to an end, and every cultural, linguistic and religious community enjoy full protection;

iii) The democratic system thrive in the country, every individual and community irrespective of their sects and faiths enjoy human rights, every sort of oppression and exploitation come to a naught, and the oppressed sections of the society get their due rights ...

iv) The Jamaat (through) contacts with such political parties as are against communalism and fascism and are standard-bearers of democratic values, shall convince them not to fight against one another and to divide ... constituencies

v) The Jamaat shall also try to convince such political parties to field only such candidates as are against communalism and fascism, are not charged with any criminal offence, and are known in their respective constituencies as good and upright persons.
