Instt. of Islamic & Arabic Studies, Delhi International Seminar on Palestine, 13-14 June, 1998

Recommendations and Resolutions:

This Seminar:

Recognizes that under the present 'peace' accords the Palestinian Question remains unsolved since the pre- 1967 refugees have neither been allowed to return to their homes and lands nor fairly compensated.

The truncated Palestine Authority areas do not enjoy any meaningful freedom ... Hence the Palestinian people have every moral and legal right to continue their struggle to regain their just rights. This seminar lauds such efforts by the Palestinian people.

Recommends that Specialized Academic Institutes of Palestine Studies should be established in India and other countries to carry out effective research work on various aspects of the Palestinian question.

Considers Israel an extension in the east of Western Imperialism and, therefore, believes that normalization of relations with it will be injurious to the countries in the region.

Condemns Israeli settlements in the occupied territories and calls for their immediate withdrawal.

Calls upon the Government of India to revert to the approach of the Founding Fathers the Palestinian Issue and arrest its growing relationship with Israel until the Palestinian people's legitimate rights are fully restored.
