M/s MIDO Aviation Group, USA has been engaged for undertaking Haj movement by air during Haj movement by air during Haj 1999 which commenced from 18.2.1999 ... Haj flights are undertaken on "no profit no loss" basis.

The number of pilgrim for Haj, 1999 is expected to be 63,000. The amount of subsidy to be paid by the Government per pilgrim is Rs.17,640/- and the total subsidy for 63,000 Hajis has been estimated at Rs.111 crores. (Source: LSUQ No. 3420/18.3.999 by K. Krishnamoorthy)

Please refer to your reply to Lok Sabha Unstarred Question No. 3420 dated 18.3.1999 regarding air charter arrangement for Haj,1999.

I would like to know whether the Haj Committee or the Government of India or the Air India has signed the charter agreement and also the terms and conditions particularly the charter fare payable to the carrier. It appears that the charter Haj fare payable by the pilgrim plus the government subsidy comes to Rs.29,640/- which may be higher than the Delhi-Jeddah-Delhi IATA fare. This may be clarified and the basis of charter fare may please be indicated.
