Government Statement on Coaching Schemes


 

During the Eighth Plan period, University Grants Commission (UGC) has incurred an expenditure of  Rs.1,90,83,405/- on the Coaching Scheme for Students belonging to the Minority Communities and Other Weaker Sections: The UGC has made a budgeting provision of Rs.100.00 lakhs for the Scheme for 1997-98.

The Coaching Scheme is being implemented in 22 Universities and 31 Colleges ... The list is annexed.

Government Statement On Foreign Degrees

The legality of foreign universities functioning in the country is before the Madras High Court, on a Petition moved by one Shri R. Sethuraman. While the case is yet to be finally disposed of, the High Court has permitted such universities to operate in the country, subject to certain restrictions till the final disposal of the case.                                                                                                      (Source: LSSQ NO. 76 dated 24.11.1997 by V.V.
