Gandhis' Mandir in AP


 

A temple in the name of the three Gandhis – theMahatma, Indira and Rajiv ... has come up at the Lingamguntla agraharam on the town outskirts as a symbol of religious harmony.

A Congress leader and local sarpanch ... got the Trigandhi temple built at a cost of Rs.6 lakh to propagate patriotism in these times of communal disharmony. According to him, the temple, built on ... donated plot, reflects the spirit of secularism with its symbols of Hinduism, Christianity and Islam.

It has a life-size statue of the Bharat Mata with the national flag in the left hand and on the right, at the foot of the deity, statues of the Mahatma, Indira and Rajiv. On the storey below is a model of 'modern temple' of the Nagarjunasagar project ... Portraits of ... Nehru, the engineer ... K.L.
