According to the press report, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has decided to introduce undergraduate and post-graduate courses in Karamkand and Vedic Astrology.
The idea is too bizarre for words for a state whose Constitution prescribes cultivation of scientific temper as a Fundamental Duty.
There are already many Sanskrit Universities in the country they must have courses in Vedic Studies. I suggest that before going any further, the UGC may ask those universities to modify their curriculum and syllabus in a manner so as to cater to the growing world market for performance of Hindu Rituals and practice of Vedic Astrology.
