Congress(I): Final Set of Questions to Vajpayee

"In its statement before the Tribunal constituted under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, in the case relating to the ban on the RSS, the general secretary of the RSS stated in 1993 that the term Hindu as  a cultural concept will include and did always include all including Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Muslims, Christians and Parsis. This statement of RSS can be called deceptive, misguiding and sheer jugglery. The statement is nothing but an untruth and totally dishonest in every sense", Prof. Vikram Singh (editor of Hindu Asmita, Indore, and an RSS activist for 57 years). Do you agree?

"The Sangh leadership is guided by BJP leadership which in turn is guided by a desire to achieve political supremacy at any cost, and this desire of political power at any cost has brought down the BJP leadership to the lowly depths of electoral arithmetic", Shri Jitendra D. Desai of Surat, Gujarat, an RSS activist since 1980. Do you agree?

"The BJP which has its roots in the Jan Sangh is also deviating. it has, of late, become more vote-conscious. Power seems to be the aim, the ultimate goal; means and principles can be ignored ... Since the BJP has also deviated and diluted its stand, people have begun to equate it with other political parties and not as essentially a party with a difference." Shri G.C. Chaudhary, district President, VHP, Madhubani, Bihar - 1989 to 1992. Do you agree? "The whole situation (in the Sangh Parivar) has a macabre resemblance to the situation in the Geogre Orwell's Animal Farm. A deep reading of this classic shows close parallels with the Sangh Parivar. The Sangh should see to it that the BJP changes its flag from saffron- green to saffron. Till this is done, all other pleas, assurances, acts and actions of the Parivar must be regarded as so many squealing of the Squealer (the smooth talking Gobbles of Animal Farm)." Shri Srikant G. Talageri - pro-Hindutva author of "Aryan Invasion Theory and Indian nationalism." Do you agree?

"We Hindus find it deeply distressing that quite a few RSS leaders of national stature have been propagating among the Hindu public certain propositions to propitiate the Muslims". Mrs. Leela Tampi, Secretary, Hindu Matru Samiti, Kerala. Do you agree.                                                                                                                            (Source: The Hindu, 6 February, 1998)
