...The Nation must hold BJP, VHP, and Bajrang Dal morally, politically and ideologically responsible for bringing the Nation to this critical state. Let it be said publicly that the political use of the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babari Masjid controversy by the BJP is the single biggest factor for bringing the Nation to its lowest depths. Let it also be noted that the BJP has given up all its trappings of liberal values and has come out openly as a party of Hindu fanatics.

...It is beyond the strength and resources of any single secular force in the country to meet the fascist menace. Therefore, we call upon our countrymen and its political forces to force all the secular political forces in the country to unite on a single programme of beating back the communal menace and its implications to our values. The secular political forces are in the Congress party, Janata Dal, Janata Dal(S), CPI, CPM, RSP, Forward Block, other left groups and secular regional forces.
