'Secular Worms Crawl Out of their Holes'
Excerpt from Weekly Column of Executive Editor, Dopahar ka Saamna (Hindi), Feb. 3, 1996
Mumbai's Fench-cut dadhiwalas and Khadidharis (reference to the city's Marxists, "pseudo-secular" intellectuals and Gandhians have been so wounded by the scrapping of the Srikrishna Commission as if they have been orphaned. Who knows in which holes these dadhiwalas hid themselves when Mumbai's anti-national and pro- Pakistani Muslims butchered mathadi workers and even attacked policemen who were trying to bring back peace in Pydhonie area. These are the same dadhiwalas who came out on the streets to protest when the Babari structure was demolished in Ayodhya.
It should be remembered that this entire lot calls itself secular but their actions are always pro-Muslim. I would like to ask these Hindu hypocrites why they don't organize dharnas to protest the activities of Muslim extremists in Kashmir (and) to demand the safe return of 4.5 lakh Kashmiri Hindus? Believe me, even if their mothers or sisters were to be raped, these secularists would not respond with the same sense of urgency. Nothing is as important to them as worship of Muslims.
We do not deny that the Shiv Sena and Shiv Sainiks played a major role in the Bombay riots. In fact, we feel proud to affirm this fact. But it must not be forgotten that it is not we who sparked off the riots. On December 6, 1992, angry Hindus removed Babar's kalank (shame) in Ayodhya and two thousand miles away, Mumbai's Pakistan-loving Muslims developed a stomach ache.
The bloody reaction was immediate. The Pakistanis who launched their anti-India war on the night of December 6 continued for a whole month. On the instructions of his father, Dawood Ibrahim (underworld don allegedly the main brain behind the bomb blasts in Bombay), defense minister Sharad Pawar rushed to Bombay to provide all possible assistance to the terrorist acts of the traitors. Policemen were scared to step out of police stations.
Hindus were being openly slaughtered. Cries of "Pakistan Zindabad, Hindustan Murdabad" had rent the air. Inside their own country, Mumbai's Hindus were terrorized with slogans like, "Burn the Hindus", "Wipe out India from the map of the world". Hindus of independent India were being killed like slaves.
Until then, Shiv Sainiks and the Shiv Sena chief had kept their patience. Appeals were made to Muslims to stop the massacre. But they would not listen. They had a field day from December 6, 1992 to January 9, 1993, it is only after all this that the Sena responded. And, no doubt, first the sainiks and then ordinary Hindus taught a lesson to the rioters.
Did the Bearded secularists emerge from their holes then? Had they lost their underwear in December, 1992 These impotent secularists remained mute spectators to the atrocities committed against Hindus between December 6, 1992 and January 9, 1993. Why do they never cry over the killing of Hindu sons?
Should the Shiv Sena take action or arrest these defenders of Hindus? Isn't this as if we sending our own freedom fighters during the independence struggle to the gallows? In fact, what is needed is that the present ruling alliance should honor all those people who had been humiliated earlier by the police or the inquiry commission. Those sainiks who were arrested under TADA or NSA (National Security Act) should now be declared "not guilty" and released.
This is the expectation of 90% of the people of Mumbai. If they had held the Sena and the BJP guilty they would not have voted them to power in the 1995 assembly elections. This mandate from Mumbai authorizes the alliance government to undo the earlier wrongs by crapping the Srikrishna Commission. By beating their breasts secularists are committing a second mistake. Don't lose patience, this mistake too will be set right.
