The flurry of activities in a remote village in Rajasthan ... is sufficient proof that fears about the BJP's hidden agenda are not just visceral. The construction-related activities establish beyond doubt the continuing agenda of the Sangh Parivar to systematically erode the secular spirit of the national polity ... Construction of the temple is very much an integral part of their agenda. That these activities had picked up pace soon after the BJP-led alliance came to power at the Centre cannot be seen as a mere coincidence. Instead, it reveals very clearly a tried and tested strategy of the Sangh Parivar - to ensure that the law enforcing agencies are rendered passive spectators while they carryout such activities

Indeed, the BJP Government in Rajasthan was found wanting in enforcing the ban imposed on the RSS and various other arms of the Sangh Parivar in the aftermath of the demolition and was dismissed for that reason. And a nine-member Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court upheld the dismissal ... All these makes it explicitly clear that the BJP's leaders, particularly those holding elected office, have time and again colluded with the VHP and the other arms of the Sangh Parivar in furthering the communal and fascist agenda. In this context, it would be a mistake to underestimate the implications of the construction-related activities now reported ...
Ever since the new Govt, took over, the various arms of the Sangh Parivar have been allowed to carry on with their communal and divisive campaign with impunity. The attack on a painting exhibition in Delhi ... and the fascist behaviour of the Shiv Sena men in Mumbai ... were allowed to be carried out by the State machinery ... All these - the attack on artists and the construction-related activities in Rajasthan - must be seen in the context of the increasing jingoism that has come to mark the pronouncements by senior members of the Union Cabinet ever since they assumed charge and particularly after the nuclear explosions in Pokhran ...The BJP is beginning to show its real face, even as it seems to be slipping back into its familiar tactics of communal mobilisation
