Mohammed Haji Saboo Siddik Polytechnic, Bombay
An Introductory Note
Mohammed Haji Saboo Siddik was born in 1885. Before he died at the young age of 23, he had provided, among other endowments, a sum of Rs. 18 lakhs for giving technical and industrial education for poor Muslim students by building an institute by the name of Mohammed Haji Saboo Siddik Institute.
Today, the autonomous M.H. Saboo Siddik Polytechnic, a unit of the M.H. Saboo Siddik Institution of Engineering and Technology, is being managed by the Anjuman-i-Islam as the Sole Trustee. Its assets exceed Rs one crore.
The Institution was founded in 1936 as a trade school for turning out artisans in industrial arts and crafts. A major reorganisation in the curriculum took place in 1944 as a result of which a few more trade and certificate courses were started and a technical high school was also opened. In 1958, a three-year diploma course in Civil Engineering was started and in 1963, two more diploma Courses in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering were added. A three-year diploma course in industrial electronics was started in 1981. In 1987, a three-year diploma course in computer engineering was also started.
In the 70s, new certificate courses in television servicing, refrigeration and air-conditioning, interior design and decoration, diesel mechanic and mechanical draughtsman ship were introduced along with two vocational courses in electrical and mechanical engineering maintenance in the junior college section of the technical high school.
The M.H.S.S. Polytechnic also provides Continuing Education Programme (CEP) of six months duration part-time courses) for trade courses such as two-wheeler Hooter mechanics, turners and fitters, welders and fabricators, book binding, desk top publishing (six months course), plumbing, civil D'men, tailoring, 7.1996) embroidery and screen printing (textile) for girls, screen printing (paper), radio and TV, mechanic training and uses in public speaking (eight-week course). The CEP is boon for drop-outs and factory workers.
The Polytechnic runs six months trade courses at the Community Polytechnic Extension Centres at Sopara, Uran and Padga in refrigerator and air-conditioning machanics, motor winding, wireman, carpentry (furniture king), motor and diesel mechanics.
The Polytechnic provides for high quality, equitable and accessible training to contribute to the economic social development of society. It serves industry though post-secondary, continuing and non-formulation and training programmes that respond to rapid Chronological and social change.

Aftab Husain Kola on Bhatkal College
The Anjuman Arts Science and Commerce College established in 1968 at Bhatkal, Karnataka, has over the years grown into a famous college catering to over 1200 students. Established in the Islamic Anglo-Urdu High campus on a hillock sanctioned by . Government of School building (it was) later shifted to the present Karnataka, under orders from the then C.M. Devraj Urs. The college alumni have done well academically on the university level. On the sports front the college has to its credit scores of university blues especially in the field of tennis, volleyball and kabaddi.
Seminars have formed a major part of the extra- curricular activities. A two-day all-India seminar on Socio-Economic Impact of the Proposed New was an instant success. The college's NCC wing has Educational Policy and the Role of Minorities in 1982 many feathers in its cap. Its students have had the honor of representing Karnataka in the Republic Day Parade.
Infrastructurally apart from adequate number of classrooms, the college is well-equipped with laboratories, a library stacked with more than 15,000 books and subscribing to around 75 journals. The efficient and highly experienced teaching faculty led by an enterprising principal is the college's pride. Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen, a minority trust, it draws Notwithstanding the fact that the college is run by students from all religious groups.
