Bajrang Dal: Vinay Katiyar's Views

Our government is here at last. Par yeh sarkar adhura hai. We will have to complete the unfinished work. Sahejta, saralta ke sath, tanav rahit, karna hai. In the past, Muslim leaders were always ready for a dialogue with us, but Congressmen and the Janata Dal people stood in the way. But today, the people have finished them off. These are positive signals. ... The temple has to be built. Work is already on. It will take t least two years to get the building blocks of the temple ready ...

The Ayodhya who created trouble have gone and now we can solve the issue through dialogue. The BJP has always been in favour of a dialogue and it will ensure that it takes palce. Religious leaders of both communities will come to an understanding. And when they do, Ali and Bajrang Bali ka milan hoga. Muslim leaders there (Ayodhya) have never opposed the temple at all. When Kalyan Singh became chief minister for the first time, they had gone along with me to ask for the mandir. Since Atal Behari Vajpayee became PM, the mandir has been a major topic of discussion ... Vajpayee's coming te power will make the temple possible. ...

The puja is already on - all that is needed is a permanent structure. The government has no part to play in this - all it has to do is not interfere. The rest will be settled through dialogue.

... Things can even be settled out of court ... The BJP has not removed the Ramjanambhoomi issue from its agenda. It has been put on hold for the moment. In any case this is not entirely a BJP government, it is a coalition. And in such a situation you have to include only those issues on which there is consensus.

... Vajpayee has just been sworn in. After this he will go to all the parties and suggest that this issue be resolved. Atalji will try to sort out this issue through dialogue with all parties ... (Source: The Times of India, 22 March, 1998)
