The ignominious exist of the Gujral Government marks the denouement of the farce that began with a  rickety United Front assuming office 17 months ago, using the Congress as a crutch. The mutual protection racket between historically anti-Congress parties and the Congress has been busted, ironically by the Congress itself.  The BJP welcomes the departure of unprincipled politicians who manipulated events in order to play a larger than life role on the centre stage of national politics.

The President of India, while ordering the dissolution of the 11th Lok Sabha ... has summed up the two issues that will be uppermost in the mind of the voter this time: Stability and good governance.
