On the Election of New Office-bearers, 18 June, 2000
The MMM endorses the results of the election as conveyed by the Returning Office and offers its felicitation and good wishes to the new office-bearers.
The Markazi Majlis-e-Mushawarat (MMM) of the All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat deplores the formation of a parallel body by a small group of dissidents on 17 June, 2000.
The MMM notes that the unconstitutional meeting of the old Majlis-e-Amla on 17June, 2000 was attended by only 3 out of 11 Constituent Members, 2 out of 10 old office-bearers and 6 out of 21 other members including 2 who are not even members of the new Markazi Majlis-e-Mushawarat.
The MMM sees no deviation or impropriety in the procedure adopted for the election of the new office- bearers and in the electoral process.
The MMM is of the view that the dissidence has been engineered by some disruptive elements who have, their own axe to grind and who have through manoeuvres and manipulations, misled three respected members into breaking away from the main body. The MMM expresses the hope that the dissident group shall soon realise its error and return to the fold so that we can work together for the common cause.
The MMM expresses its confidence that the AIMMM will not only survive this crisis but emerge stronger with new determination.
The MMM endorses the President's plans for strengthening the machinery of the Mushawarat including the formation of the Standing Committee of the Markazi Mushawarat and the State Majalis-e-Mushawarat and the setting up an effective and efficient central office.
