Eight of the accused in the sex racket of Ajmer were yesterday convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment by the District Judge ... Those convicted are MaheshLudhani, Harish Tolani, Parvez Ansari, Kailash Soni, Anwar Chishti, Ishrat Ali, Shamsu Bhishti alias Maradona and Puttan Ilahabadi. Of the remaining 8 accused, Farooq Chishti, a former youth Congress leader, was reported to have lost his mental balance and his trial is pending. Another accused, Purushottam, was said to have committed suicide.

The two main accused, Nafees Chishti and Sohail Ghani ... have not been traced so far ... When the lid was blown off the rack in 1992, it had shocked the country besides sullying the image of Ajmer, known for Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti's Dargah ... Most of the victims faced harassment and threats with no support from the society and even their families ... About half a dozen girls were suspected to have been driven to suicide ...
