Going by past experience, Advani's statement cannot be taken at its face value. Notwithstanding his good intentions, it is likely that some sections in the Sangh Parivar would rake up the issue at a later stage. To prevent such a thing from happening, I suggest that the BJP, VHP, RSS and all others concerned should jointly file an affidavit to this effect with the Supreme Court. On their part, the Muslim leaders should also give an undertaking to the Supreme Court that they withdraw all claims to the ... Babari Masjid or the site where it once stood. They should not consider it to be too high a price to buy peace in our motherland.
