AIMMM on Israel's War against Palestine Shahabuddin to PM Vajpayee, 3 Oct., 00

The AIMMM is deeply agonized by the violence let loose against the Palestinian youth by the Israeli authorities in Jerusalem and the cities of the West Bank.

By 1 October, 23 youth had fallen to Israeli bullets and hundreds were reported injured. According to reliable reports, the violence was sparked by the visit of Israeli Opposition Leader Ariel Sharon to the holy site of Masjid Al-Aqsa.

President Yasser Arafat has called for the withdrawal of the Israeli army from the Masjid Al-Aqsa campus and stop to firing on the protesting youth in the Palestinian towns. He has also appealed to all who believe in the peace process to ask the Israeli Government to stop the blood bath. It has, also been reported that the PLO has asked for UN intervention.

On behalf of the AIMMM, I request you to condemn the Israeli violence against the people of Palestine and to referred positively to the call of President Arafat, in order to save the peace progress from grinding to a halt.
