"The All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM) is deeply shocked by the sudden upsurge of militant violence in the State of Jammu & Kashmir and the resulting loss of over 100 innocent lives including those of some Amarnath pilgrims. It conveys its sincere condolences to the next-of-the-kin of those killed.

The AIMMM unreservedly condemns violence against innocent persons as anti-Islamic, inhuman and contrary to the internationally accepted humanitarian laws. It, therefore, calls upon the militant groups to abjure the path of senseless violence and join the current cease-fire between the Hizbul Mujahideen and the security forces to create an environment conducive for peaceful negotiations.

The AIMMM also reiterates its call for meaningful and unconditional talks between the Government of India, on one hand, and all political elements and militant groups operating in the State, on the other, with a view first to stabilise peace and then to settle the problem and fulfill the longing of the long-suffering people for Peace with Honour."
