A Report on J.D.T. Islam Complex in Calicut, Kerala


 

JDT Islam Orphanage is a charitable institution established in 1922 for sheltering the victims of Malabar Rebellion of 1921. More than 10,000 children have been fed, sheltered and educated in the institution so far. A good number of them are leading a decent life as Doctors, Engineers, Technicians, Pharmacists, Lecturers, Teachers and in various other fields, in and out of India. Every year a considerable number of them continue their higher studies in various Universities in India and abroad.

The present strength of the Orphanage is 976 out of which 375 are girls. Religious instructions are imparted to every inmate from LKG to Senior Secondary.

1.Welding and Carpentry - Manufacturing all required furniture table, chair, almirah, racks, windows and tresses etc.

2. Printing Press - A well-equipped press is functioning in order to print materials required for all institutions.

3. Soap Making - Inmates make soap for them.

4. Powerloom - Manufacturing clothes for the inmates.

5. Tailoring - Cloths required for boys and girls are being stitched by themselves.

Hospital: Three huge multi-storied ultra modern hi-tech specialised buildings are constructed to house "IQRAA INTERNATIONAL HOSPITAL AND RESEARCH CENTRE" CALICUT (Sponsored by Iqraa Charitable Trust)

The President of India, Vice Presidents, Prime Ministers, Governors, Central and State Ministers and many distinguished persons from India and abroad have visited the institution and admired our activities. The affairs are managed by Registered Committee consisting of prominent persons from Kerala and outside.

Future Plan:

1.     To establish Super Market-cum-Auditorium-cum- Marriage Hall

2.     To establish a production unit in order to make institution self-supporting

3.     To construct small houses for orphan couples. 5 such houses are under construction. We have 15 acres of land for the same (6,000 Dollars each House)
